Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Bothell remodel wiring, with the portals kept straight

Your remodel already has enough moving parts: cabinets on order, a designer waiting on appliance picks, a contractor asking about the schedule. The paperwork should not add more, but in Bothell it can, because one project can pass through more than one online handoff. We keep those handoffs straight so the wiring lands where the design says it should.

If a kitchen, bath, addition, or reconfigured living space is on your list, start with Request an Estimate, or call (206) 718-3047 and walk us through the rooms that are changing.

Which portal owns which piece of your project

Bothell directs all permit and land-use applications to MyBuildingPermit, while its Permit Center states that electrical permits are obtained through Washington L&I. That split is your first checklist: identify the City application, identify the electrical work, and keep the documents for each organized. The two can relate to one project, but they are not the same request.

Label the process documents accordingly. City building or land-use materials belong with MyBuildingPermit; electrical permit and inspection questions belong with L&I. Keeping that distinction visible makes it easier to ask the right question of the right office, and it saves the owner, designer, and contractor from depending on memory at each handoff. When a question comes up mid-project, the answer is then a document away instead of a search.

The City also says inspections are requested through its permit portal, and that virtual inspections may be used for single-family plumbing or mechanical inspections, per the City of Bothell Permit Center. Read that narrowly: the virtual-inspection statement covers plumbing and mechanical work, and it should not be stretched into a promise about electrical inspections.

On the electrical side, L&I explains that permit jurisdiction varies and identifies the cities that issue their own electrical permits and perform inspections; Bothell is not on that local-city list. So we confirm the permit and inspection details against your actual address and project scope rather than leaning on an assumption drawn from a City portal.

A city that sits in two counties

Bothell spans King and Snohomish Counties, and the 2026 OFM housing estimates record 14,111 units in the King County portion and 8,064 in the Snohomish County portion. For you, the county line is a reason to use the exact project address whenever anything gets filed. It is not a reason to assume electrical permitting changes from one side of the city to the other.

Turn the wish list into circuit decisions

Before finishes lock anything in, list the decisions that touch wiring: rooms changing, fixed equipment, lighting locations, switches and controls, appliance information, plans, and the intended construction sequence. Mark which appliance selections are preliminary, whether lighting controls are still being designed, and whether furniture or storage plans affect outlet locations. These notes are not electrical specifications. They show everyone the open questions before the walls close.

A design board can describe the finished room; an electrical scope needs operational detail. Which fixtures need control from more than one point, what will live on the counter, island, wall, or garage, which appliances are chosen and which are still being compared, whether a workroom is moving or a new circuit is under consideration. We turn those answers into a written scope with its own number, and we communicate before any work outside that scope moves forward. That matters most when the fixture or appliance schedule is still evolving.

What to send with a Bothell estimate request

Include the address, project type, MyBuildingPermit status if one exists, plans or sketches, a fixture and equipment list, and photos of the areas changing. If a remodeler or designer is involved, decision dates for cabinetry, tile, lighting, and appliances help too. The more clearly the handoffs are described, the easier it is to separate what is known from what must be confirmed. Photos beat adjectives here; a picture of the panel and of the rooms in play answers half of our first questions before we ask them.

If an outlet or switch is hot, there is a burning smell, smoke, sparks, a shock, or immediate fire danger, stop using the affected equipment and call 911. When power is out across a broader area, contact the serving utility.

Start before the drywall does

The best time to sort the wiring is while the design can still move. Send the project through Request an Estimate, or call (206) 718-3047. Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
