Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Kenmore electrical work with every approval named right

When a project reaches the street, the cast grows fast: a service-lateral, a driveway that crosses the right-of-way, or site work running alongside a panel change can put the City, the utility district, and the state's electrical program in view at once. The habit that costs Kenmore owners the most time is calling every one of those approvals “the permit.” They are different approvals with different owners, and naming them correctly is half the coordination work. We do that naming with you before anything gets priced.

Request an Estimate with the address, the planned equipment, and any active engineering permit number you already have, or call (206) 718-3047 and we will sort the pieces out loud.

Name each approval before you chase it

Kenmore Development Services describes the City's development process, and it documents one change worth knowing about: beginning July 1, 2025, Northshore Utility District no longer applies separately for certain right-of-way utility work that is part of a development with an active ENG permit. That is a specific City-development-process statement, and a narrow one. It does not mean every service change sits inside an ENG permit, and it does not tell a homeowner that an electrical permit has been issued.

The electrical permit is its own lane with its own authority. For Kenmore addresses, Washington L&I's city-jurisdiction list identifies the framework, and L&I is the electrical permit and inspection authority under the current jurisdiction guidance. Coordinating the lanes is normal; substituting one for the other is not. One approval never answers for the other.

What the electrical lane needs from you is scope, in plain terms. What is being installed or changed, and is there an existing service or panel concern? Will a new circuit run through a finished area? Is the work tied to a larger construction plan?

What to bring, whether you build or just live here

A builder or GC can make the handoff clean by bringing the engineering permit number, the site plan, utility correspondence, and the target construction sequence. A homeowner can start with far less: the address, a short description of the intended change, photos only when safe to take, and any documentation already received from the City or utility. The goal is not to predict approval. It is to keep the right question out of the wrong process.

Mostly houses, with a few wrinkles

Kenmore's 2026 OFM estimate lists 10,045 housing units, 67% of them one-unit homes, plus 290 mobile-home or special units; Washington OFM housing data provides the aggregate counts. Read as a customer, that means most Kenmore projects are detached-home projects, with accessory spaces and some less common property arrangements mixed in. What the figures do not establish is the condition of any panel, service, or mobile home, so we never treat them as if they did.

For an EV charger, the useful questions are where charging is planned, whether the charging equipment has been selected, where the panel is located, and what route the circuit may take. A panel change is not assumed in advance; it either earns its place in the scope or it stays out. For a service-lateral or site project, the questions widen: is any work proposed in the right-of-way, is there an ENG permit, and who is coordinating the larger plan.

Keep the sources of delay labeled

Construction timing makes it tempting to mash every review into a single deadline. Resist that. A City engineering question needs City follow-up, an electrical permit question belongs with the electrical authority, and a utility service question belongs with the serving utility. The distinction matters most when site work, a development permit, and interior electrical work are all moving at the same time.

Ask early which scope items genuinely have to be coordinated and which can be sequenced on their own. A clear electrical scope makes the whole team easier to organize, though it cannot guarantee any agency, utility, or third party's timing, and we will not pretend otherwise.

The paper trail we keep for you

After we discuss the project, the electrical work is documented as a written scope carrying its own number, and if the work later expands, we call before including the added item. You get a record of the electrical decision without it being dressed up as a City or utility approval. How estimates work covers that process step by step.

When it cannot wait

Do not use a permit page to troubleshoot a possible active hazard. If there is immediate fire or shock danger, get clear of the area if safe, leave equipment alone, and call 911. For a broad outage affecting nearby properties, report it to the serving utility rather than treating it as an individual repair. For other concerns, electrical help can help organize the symptom for a later conversation.

One address, every piece accounted for

Kenmore projects move more clearly when the ENG permit, the right-of-way question, the utility coordination item, and the electrical scope each carry their own name. Hand us what you have, and we will account for the electrical piece and point out the rest. Request an Estimate or call (206) 718-3047 with the address and whatever project information exists so far.

FAQs

Common questions

Does Kenmore’s ENG permit change replace an electrical permit?

No. The City’s July 2025 change concerns certain NUD right-of-way utility work within an active engineering permit. Electrical permitting and inspection are a separate L&I path. Kenmore Development Services · Washington L&I

What should I share if there is already an engineering permit?

Provide the permit number, project description, site plan if available, and the part of the electrical work you want priced. That helps keep coordination questions visible without claiming that the electrical path has been completed.

Can a service-lateral project include an EV charger?

It can be useful to discuss the projects together, but each part still needs its own scope and authority check. Bring the anticipated charger information and the larger site-work plan.

Are all Kenmore homes suited to the same panel or charger plan?

No. Citywide housing counts do not determine a particular home’s equipment, access, or capacity. The conversation begins with the property and planned equipment, not a generic upgrade recommendation.

What is the safe action for a neighborhood-wide power interruption?

If the interruption appears broader than your property, contact the serving utility. Do not open electrical equipment or attempt a repair. Call 911 if there is immediate fire or shock danger.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
