Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Shoreline electrical planning, organized before you apply

If you are planning an addition or DADU in Shoreline, the project starts online whether you prefer it or not: the City says new permits and projects are accepted only electronically through eTRAKiT. That makes the best electrical conversation the one that happens after your basic project record is organized, not after scattered files are already moving between people. To get the scope defined early, Request an Estimate with what you have so far.

Choose the account before the document pile grows

Shoreline says applicants must register either through a licensed-contractor account, which the City says must be licensed through L&I, or through a public account. That account choice belongs in your first checklist, alongside the responsible contact, parcel details, and documents already available. It does not establish what electrical permit authority will apply.

For an addition or DADU, collect available plans, the desired electrical changes, building location information, and the decisions still open. The electrical scope might involve lighting, new circuits, a panel question, future EV readiness, or an equipment change. Do not let an online account create a false sense that every scope can be submitted without the correct permit path or supporting material.

Use pre-application feedback as written project context

Shoreline offers optional virtual pre-application meetings and says it provides written discipline comments after the meeting. A meeting can surface questions early, but it is not a substitute for a permit application, a final review, or an electrical authority determination. Keep the written comments and bring them to the estimate conversation when they affect the planned work.

The City’s page says application materials move forward after intake and completeness review. That makes a document-led estimate more useful than a speculative price. Priority Electric can discuss what the work appears to include, write a scope and number, and call before adding newly discovered work. It cannot decide the City’s review outcome or substitute for the missing electrical-routing verification.

Growth context does not classify a parcel

Shoreline’s housing estimate rose from 24,043 units in 2020 to 28,337 in 2026, an increase of 17.9%. That is context for why additions and DADUs are on so many minds here; it says nothing about the age, capacity, access, zoning, or permit situation of your property, so we treat it as background rather than a conclusion.

For a homeowner, the practical intake question is simple: what is being added or changed, and what documents already exist? For a builder or general contractor, add the project stage, drawings, and the person responsible for coordinating access. Read about addition and ADU electrical and new construction electrical before forming a request.

Keep unsafe conditions outside the online workflow

An eTRAKiT checklist is for a planned project, not an immediate shock or fire condition. If there is smoke, visible arcing, a burning smell, a shock, or immediate danger, retreat to safety if possible and call 911. Do not upload photos, search for permit documents, or continue testing the equipment. If the power failure is widespread, contact the utility that serves the address.

A non-emergency electrical symptom can be described safely by noting where it occurs and what changed before it began. The condition can then be separated from the larger addition or DADU plan instead of being hidden inside it.

What to send while the gate is open

Do not try to close the verification gap by repeating a prior project’s permit route or by assuming the nearest city has the same authority. Save the official verification link with the project file so the source can be checked again if the scope changes. A different address, utility, or work type may change the answer. The responsible next step is to keep the record organized, use the City’s current electronic intake for the applicable project, and verify the electrical issuer before anyone is directed to apply. That sequence avoids a public page turning an unresolved routing question into false instruction.

Priority Electric can still discuss a non-emergency scope and document needs without representing a permit route. Request an Estimate with the project material, or Call (206) 718-3047 to discuss the electrical work that needs definition.

FAQs

Common questions

Can I submit a new Shoreline project in person?

The City says new permits and projects are accepted only electronically through eTRAKiT.

Which eTRAKiT account type should I use?

Shoreline describes licensed-contractor and public accounts. Confirm the proper account and project route with the City.

Does a virtual pre-application meeting approve the project?

No. The City describes written discipline comments from an optional meeting. It is not a permit approval or final electrical determination.

What if the electrical condition is unsafe now?

Call 911 for immediate fire or shock danger. For a broad outage, contact the serving utility. Do not rely on eTRAKiT or a web request.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
