Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Your Steilacoom electricity might come from the Town itself

Steilacoom is one of the few places around where the town on your tax bill may also be the utility on your power bill. The Town operates a municipal electric utility and says limited parts of Town are served by Puget Sound Energy or Tacoma Power, which means three different utilities are possible within one small map. If you are thinking about solar, a meter change, or service work, the address is the first fact of the project, because everything downstream, who serves you, which requirements apply, which authority signs off, follows from it.

Priority Electric starts every Steilacoom conversation there. Request an Estimate with the address and the concept, or call (206) 718-3047, and the territory gets checked before the scope gets set.

Guidance: the Town's solar checklist is real, and dated

The Town publishes a detailed solar and net-metering requirements list: an L&I electrical permit and inspection, a Steilacoom building permit application with plans, a net meter, an emergency shut-off throw handle, and other listed items. Two cautions keep it useful. First, it is a checklist of pieces, not a price menu from anyone. Second, the posted fee material refers to 2025 labor rates, so every number on it gets rechecked before a budget depends on it. Requirements, meters, and applications can change; the appropriate Town, utility, and L&I confirmations belong to the live project, not the archived page.

Guidance: the building counter has hours and limits

Steilacoom says single-family building applications and applications with plans should be brought to the office between 8 a.m. and noon, and notes the office cannot print large plans. Small logistics, but they decide whether a submission day succeeds. Check the current instructions with the Town before delivering anything.

What a solar-curious homeowner actually brings

The address, utility bill information if available, the equipment concept, preliminary plans, and the meter or capacity questions on your mind. Not required: equipment selected in advance or an installation design promised from an online list. Steilacoom's 3,000 housing units are 73% one-unit homes in the 2026 estimate, so the typical request is an owner and a roof, but the estimate treats the statistic as scenery: it says nothing about roof suitability, wiring age, or feasibility at your address. The adjacent reading is panel upgrades, EV charger installation, transfer switches and backup power, and permit guidance.

The estimate names what it cannot promise

We discuss the electrical work, the plans, and the capacity questions, then provide a written scope with its own number; if conditions call for more work later, you are contacted before the addition is made. The scope deliberately claims no Town approval, no interconnection, no fee total, no incentive, and no agency timeline. Those belong to the offices that grant them, and a scope that pretends otherwise is not a scope, it is a wish.

Before any of this: the safety check

Fire, shock, smoke, a burning odor, sparking, or exposed energized equipment: leave the area and call 911. Do not operate a disconnect or open service equipment to investigate, and send a wider outage to the utility, whichever of the three it turns out to be. For planned work, documents beat bravery: address, bill, plans, concept, questions.

Address first, always

Request an Estimate with the property address and the solar, meter, or service idea, or call (206) 718-3047. One address check, then a scope that stands on it.

FAQs

Common questions

Is every Steilacoom address served by the Town utility?

No. The Town says limited areas are served by PSE or Tacoma Power. Confirm the serving utility for the exact property before making permit, meter, or scope assumptions.

Does the Town's solar list include an electrical permit?

Yes. The Town's posted net-metering requirements list an L&I electrical permit and inspection. Recheck the current list because requirements and fees can change.

Can I use the posted fees as my project estimate?

No. The Town's information includes fees dated to 2025 labor rates. Official fees are not Priority Electric's scope or price, and they must be verified before budgeting.

What should I bring to a solar or meter conversation?

Bring the address, utility information if available, existing equipment details, the project goal, and plans or equipment information. These facts help identify what needs further confirmation.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
