Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Solar on the roof, and a panel that has to keep up

The Renton version of the solar conversation usually starts in the garage, staring at a panel installed decades before anyone said kilowatt-hour at a dinner table. An array, a battery, a charger, or all three eventually meet that panel, and the honest first question is whether it can host what you are planning. That is an electrical scope question, and it runs alongside a City question, because Washington L&I lists Renton among the cities that issue electrical permits and perform inspections within city limits.

Priority Electric works both questions as one project. Bring the idea, the address, and the building type to Request an Estimate, or call (206) 718-3047 for a non-emergency capacity conversation.

Guidance: Renton's permit machinery, briefly

The City lists Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing among its online self-service permit options and identifies Residential Photovoltaic as an online permit type; its inspection page says permits beginning with E use the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing inspection line. Most usefully for planning, an inspection can be scheduled as late as 11:59 p.m. on the day before the requested inspection. That cutoff is generous, but it is a scheduling deadline, not a promised arrival window, and the sharper question it invites is: what must be complete and accessible before you request the visit at all?

A half-and-half city

Renton's 2026 estimate counts 45,081 housing units at 52% one-unit and 46% two-or-more-unit, with 986 mobile-home or special units. In practice that means nearly every second solar or capacity request here comes from a shared building, where the array idea meets association approvals, common-area rules, and questions about who may alter shared property. Include the unit, the location of the service equipment if known, and any owner or association process already underway; a detached-home request can go straight to the equipment and the panel label.

Now versus later is a design input

Solar now, storage maybe next year, a charger when the lease ends: staged plans are normal, and saying so shapes the scope. The written scope we provide, with its own number, shows what is included now and which decisions stay open, and if work under way uncovers something beyond it, we call before proceeding. Photos help when safe: the panel label, the proposed equipment location, the plans. Never remove a cover or touch exposed parts to improve a photo. The background reading is panel upgrades and EV charger planning.

The brief that beats a price question

How much for a panel is not answerable from a sentence, and an answer invented from one would not survive the site visit. A compact brief is: property type, the equipment being considered, any City permit number, the project stage, and what you already know about the electrical service. That leaves room to identify unknowns honestly instead of papering over them with a number, and it gives the first conversation something real to examine.

Hazards outrank portals

A hot panel, smoke, sparks, a burning odor, or a shock risk: move away if you safely can and call 911. Several dark houses on the street means the utility, not a building diagnosis. No portal, form, or breaker reset substitutes for either.

Start the capacity conversation

Send the brief through Request an Estimate or call (206) 718-3047, and the roof and the garage get planned together instead of discovering each other halfway through the job.

FAQs

Common questions

Does Renton offer online electrical permit resources?

The City lists Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing under online permits and requests. Confirm the current permit type and application requirements with the City for the actual project.

How late can I schedule a Renton inspection?

The City says inspections may be scheduled as late as 11:59 p.m. on the day before the requested inspection. That is a scheduling cutoff, not a promised arrival time.

Why does building type matter for a solar estimate?

Detached and shared buildings can create different access, ownership, and equipment questions. Include the building type and any association process in the request.

What should I do with an unsafe panel condition?

For immediate fire or shock danger, get to safety and call 911. For a wider outage, contact the electric utility. Do not keep resetting breakers.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
