Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Medina projects run on decisions, not promised dates

Somewhere in your Medina project there is a date you want and a date nobody will give you. The City's permit FAQ says permits are reviewed first come, first served and that it does not give out timelines. You can resent that fact or plan around it, and planning around it turns out to be straightforward: put the dates you control on one line and the dates you do not on another, then organize the electrical decisions under the first line.

That is the planning style Priority Electric brings to Medina work from its Bonney Lake base. Open the conversation through Request an Estimate with the stage the project has reached, or call (206) 718-3047 and describe the decision that needs attention first.

What the City does publish: working hours

Medina publishes construction and development work windows: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, with no work on Sundays or specified holidays. Those windows are City-published context for sequencing a job, not a commitment about your project's schedule, and they are worth having in the file before trades are booked.

Guidance for the permit record itself

The City says most permit applications are submitted electronically through its Permitting Portal, notes that the process can differ by permit type and project complexity, and says fees can be based on valuation and/or a fixed rate, with the applicable fees visible when an application is made. It has also adopted the Washington State Building Code with amendments. Together those facts support one habit: treat the portal as the project record and never let an estimate conversation invent a fee, a review duration, or an approval date. Electrical permits in Medina run through L&I, a separate lane from the City's building review.

Decide in gates, not all at once

A significant project moves through gates: design development, permit preparation, equipment selection, construction coordination, inspections, and the occasional scope change. Nearly all of Medina's housing is single-family, 1,132 of 1,135 units in the 2026 estimate, so the typical project here is an owner's own home, often with backup power, a service question, or a remodel attached. For a backup-power or transfer-switch question, start with the intended use and the equipment being weighed. For a remodel, start with the spaces changing and the items the architect or builder has not finalized. For a panel question, start with what the home needs to support next. The point is not to answer everything on day one; it is to know which answer each gate needs.

A written scope that expects the plan to move

Our process fits a project whose decisions develop over time: we discuss the work, provide a written scope with its own number, and call you before anything outside that scope is added. If timing matters, name the project milestone rather than asking anyone for a permit forecast; we can discuss availability honestly, and the City and L&I channels confirm what actually applies.

Some situations skip the planning frame entirely

A burning odor, visible smoke, sparking equipment, or a shock is a safety event, not a scheduling one. Get away from the hazard if it is safe to do so and call 911 when there is immediate danger. An outage that reaches beyond your property belongs with the utility.

Start with the stage you are in

Tell us where the project stands, the constraints already known, and the next decision on the table through Request an Estimate, or call (206) 718-3047. The first conversation sorts what is knowable now from what the permit process will confirm.

FAQs

Common questions

Does Medina publish a permit review timeline?

No. The City’s FAQ says permits are reviewed first come, first served and that it does not give out timelines.

What City work windows should a project team consider?

Medina publishes 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for commercial construction and development activity on weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Verify current rules and project applicability with the City.

Can an estimate include an exact permit fee?

No. The City says fees vary and can be based on valuation and/or a fixed rate. Confirm fees through the City process for the actual application.

What should be included for a service or backup-power planning request?

Provide the equipment being considered, intended use, available plans, existing concerns, and the next project milestone. Do not assume a particular service change is required.

Is an online permit portal a guarantee of a review date?

No. The portal is an application route, not a public schedule guarantee. Keep the City process and electrical scope planning distinct.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
