Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters

Edgewood electrical work without the resubmittal loop

You could open Edgewood's permit portal tonight; it accepts applications whenever you are ready. What actually sets the pace is what you have gathered before you log in. On most projects the avoidable delay is not the review itself, it is the resubmittal after something was missing. So we treat document readiness as part of the electrical work, not homework you are left to guess at.

Start with Request an Estimate and tell us what you are planning and which documents already exist. If a call is easier, (206) 718-3047 reaches us, and we will build the list with you.

How the City decides an application is complete

Edgewood is blunt in a useful way: the City says missing required documents delay processing. When something is missing, it issues a Notice of Incomplete Application explaining what is needed, and it considers an application complete when required documents have been provided and the appropriate review fees have been paid. That definition is worth reading twice, because it describes exactly what a stalled application looks like. City of Edgewood application guidance

The portal itself is the easy part. Edgewood says applicants can use it to apply, upload electronic plans and supporting documents, pay online, and retrieve a permit. Edgewood permits and applications None of that moves faster than the file you feed it, which is why the preparation happens before the login screen.

Grade your project before you upload anything

Green: property address, proposed work, drawings or site information, equipment details, and decision-makers are available. Yellow: documents exist but the scope is still changing, a shop or outbuilding use has not been defined, or another trade has unanswered questions. Red: required material is missing, the project has no clear site plan, or no one knows who can approve the work.

This board is our planning shorthand, not the City's application form. It keeps an electrical request tied to the building information an addition, garage, or secondary service actually needs. Ask the City what its live application requires, then identify the electrical scope and the appropriate electrical permit route for the address. Yellow and red are not failures; they are the missing pieces surfacing while they are still cheap to fix.

Who issues the electrical permit here

Completing the City's application does not settle the electrical permit. Edgewood is not listed among the cities that issue their own electrical permits and inspections on L&I's local-jurisdiction page, and L&I says that if a jobsite is not within a listed city or Tacoma Power service area, the permit comes from L&I. Washington L&I city electrical jurisdictions The City's portal carries its building process; the electrical permit runs on its own track.

One project can therefore carry coordinated but distinct questions: what the City must receive to call the application complete, what electrical work is planned, which electrical authority applies at this address, and what must remain accessible until the relevant inspection stage. We keep those answers straight, and each one gets confirmed before construction begins.

A growing city, still mostly houses

Edgewood has been building: its housing count increased from 5,125 to 6,088 units, an 18.8% rise, and 71% of units were one-unit homes in the state's estimate. Washington OFM housing estimates In practice, that means the typical Edgewood project is a house project: an addition, a shop, a garage, a charger. The numbers describe the city, though, not a particular development, service size, utility, or permit condition.

For a home addition, shop, garage, EV charger, panel concern, or lighting plan, share the intended use, equipment, plans, timing, and any City application status. What we agree on becomes a written scope with its own number. If new work appears outside that scope, we call before adding it.

Documents beat guesses

If the project has a site plan, equipment cut sheet, floor plan, or a prior permit record, attach or describe it. If it does not, say so; a clean starting record is more valuable than a speculative equipment label or a rough capacity estimate. Choices that are not final, such as an appliance location, vehicle charger location, or outbuilding use, can be flagged as open decisions to resolve rather than hidden assumptions in the work description.

An active fire, shock, sparks, smoke, or burning odor requires emergency help, not a scheduling discussion. Get safe and call 911. For a widespread outage, report the issue to the utility.

Start with whatever the file holds today

A finished plan set is not required to get going; helping you figure out what the file still needs is part of the job. Send the project as it stands through Request an Estimate, or call (206) 718-3047 and we will take it from there.

The City says missing required documents delay processing and that a Notice of Incomplete Application identifies what is needed. Edgewood

When does Edgewood consider an application complete?

The City says documents must be provided and the appropriate review fees paid. City application instructions

Does Edgewood’s permit portal handle the electrical permit?

Do not assume that it does. Edgewood’s portal supports City permits and documents, while electrical authority should be confirmed separately for the property and scope.

What is useful for a shop or detached-garage electrical conversation?

Share intended use, equipment, lighting, layout, distance from the main building, drawings, and whether the work is tied to a City submittal.

Can I safely take panel photos for an estimate?

Only take photos without opening equipment or putting yourself near a hazard. A burning smell, shock, smoke, or sparks means leave the area and call 911.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
