Priority Electric LLC — Powering what matters
Outlets, switches, and new circuits

Outlets where you need them

Extension cords across the floor, a dead outlet behind the couch, one circuit feeding half the house. These are small jobs with outsized payoff.

Every house has its workarounds. The power strip daisy-chained behind the desk. The microwave that dims the lights. The bedroom where the only outlet is on the wrong wall, so a cord runs under the rug. You have stopped seeing them, but you route your day around them, and some of them are quietly unsafe.

The small work, done properly

  • Dead, loose, or two-prong outlets replaced and correctly grounded or GFCI-protected.
  • New receptacles added where the furniture actually sits, including USB and floor outlets.
  • GFCI protection for kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor locations that never had it.
  • Switch upgrades: three-way runs, dimmers, timers, and smart switches that need a real neutral.
  • Weather-resistant exterior outlets with covers that survive a Northwest winter.

When a room needs its own circuit

Some loads should not share. A home office full of equipment, a shop tool, a space heater in the cold back room, a freezer in the garage, a hot tub. If plugging one thing in reliably trips the breaker, the honest fix is a dedicated circuit from the panel, sized for that load and nothing else. We run the cable, set the breaker, and label it so the next person knows what it feeds.

Why the cheap fix is not one

Most outlet failures we open up trace to backstabbed connections or worn contacts, and the hardware-store habit of swapping the device without correcting the termination just resets the clock on the same failure. We terminate on the screws, torque them, and check the rest of the run while the box is open. Customers mention that kind of detail in reviews because it is visible once you know to look.

One review describes outlets and lights replaced across two floors of a house; another, a straightforward outlet change-out. Small jobs are welcome here. They are most of what an electrician does, and doing them well is the whole reputation.

A warm outlet is not a small job

Heat, buzzing, or a scorch shadow at any outlet or switch means stop using it and leave it off at the breaker. Read hot outlet or switch for what that heat means, and call (206) 718-3047 rather than waiting on a form.

Getting small work priced and done honestly

Before anyone starts, ask

  • Will the new devices be terminated on the screws rather than the push-in backs?
  • While each box is open, will you check the other connections in it?
  • Which of my locations should have GFCI protection under today's rules?
  • Can the whole list ride under one written number?

Things that should raise an eyebrow

Per-device pricing that balloons once the electrician is standing in your hallway. A two-prong replacement offered with no question about grounding. And in the house, the signs you can spot without tools: plugs that sag out of an outlet, a faceplate warm to the back of your hand, a crackle when something is plugged in. Those belong on the list for the visit, not on your weekend agenda.

Five minutes of upkeep a month

Press the test button on each GFCI monthly and reset it, retire daisy-chained power strips in favor of a proper circuit where a room genuinely needs one, and jot down which breaker controls what as you learn it. If an outlet does go quiet, the dead outlet page covers the safe checks. And when you collect prices, how to prepare for an estimate and its companion on comparing them apply to small jobs just as well as big ones.

For everything less urgent, list the annoyances room by room and send them over. Bundling five small fixes into one visit is the economical way to clear the whole list.

FAQs

Common questions

Why is one outlet dead when the breaker is on?

Often a tripped GFCI upstream, sometimes in a different room, or a failed connection at an outlet earlier in the chain. The dead outlet guide shows what to check safely before calling.

Do smart switches work in an older house?

Many need a neutral conductor in the switch box, and older switch loops do not always have one. We open the box, tell you what is there, and either install the switch you bought or point you at a model that suits the wiring you actually have.

Is a permit needed to add an outlet?

New outlets and new circuits are generally permitted electrical work in Washington; like-for-like device replacement generally is not. We confirm the requirement for your city as part of the quote, and when a permit applies, we pull it.

Can I bring you a list of small fixes?

Please do. A punch list of outlets, switches, and odd annoyances makes an efficient visit, and you get one written number for the lot before we start rather than a per-surprise bill afterward.

Denis at Priority Electric LLC delivered an outstanding experience from start to finish. We hired him to completely replace all the lighting in our kitchen, including updating the old fixtures and replacing all the recessed can lighting in the ceiling. What truly set Denis apart was his customer-focused approach. Before committing to the full ceiling job, he offered to install a complimentary can light as a test run. This allowed us to see the final look and brightness, which was incredibly helpful in making our final decision. The quality of the work was impeccable and fully met our expectations, and we found his pricing to be very fair for the scope of the project.
